Fine-tuning color using rendered masks
After Effects has a number of different ways to push around color or do color correction on an image or a piece of an image. I'm going to use my Mask pass on the Beauty pass, or rather a copy of it, to push around color of the tile wall on the floor just a little bit. Here's how I'll make this work. I'm going to take my beauty pass, duplicate it by pressing control d, and then use a channel set matte effect on it. I'll choose Effect, Channel, and Set Matte for this duplicate of the beauty. For the matte, I'll take it from my mask layer, and use let's say, the red channel initially. Now I'll put a color correction on that particular layer, layer three, my copy of my beauty pass, and push that color around. With that layer selected on the timeline, I'll choose Effect, color correction, and I have a lot of different options here. We can work by gamma, pedestal, and gain. We can work by levels or ranges. And also color balance or color balance in hue, luminance, and saturation. I'll work…
