Fine-tuning the final gather and lighting
We have a lot of control in Mental Ray over the way the light bounces in the scene. Not just where we put the lights and their intensity, or things like sky portals. But actually, within our render settings in the final gather and global illumination sections. We have control over the quality and spread of that bounced light. What I'll do is to make sure that I'm rendering from my master layer, by checking the render settings button. And, I'll turn of the mask. And, this way, I'm guaranteed to render with the render settings from the master layer. Next, I'll hide my specular light. Anything that you make is automatically part of that master layer. And so, I'll select it on the master layer, and press Ctrl+h, to hide. And this way, it's not part of that rendering. When we hide lights they turn off. Now make sure I'm set up again to show the beauty render and tune up that final gather. I'll go in the Render Settings and into the Features tab. And I'll make sure I'm turning on Global…
