Once you have your character model, the next step is to start applying textures and color. Now before we apply textures, we need to map our characters so that the textures apply properly. This process is called UV mapping. So let's go ahead and UV map our character's body so that you get an understanding as to how this works. Now before I start, I'm actually going to hide everything but the body, so this is my character's body. Let's go into outliner, and select everything but the character, so all of this geometry here, and do display, hide selection, so now all I have is my character's body. So what I want to do is map a texture to this character, so I'm going to map a generic texture, so that way I get the scale and spacing of the texture properly applied.
