Normal mapping

- [Instructor] Normal mapping is a variation on bump mapping that gives better results. Especially for real-time games, simulations and virtual worlds. A bump map uses the brightness of an image to simulate height above a surface. A normal map uses red, green and blue channels to simulate surface deviations in three dimensions. Giving better fidelity. I've got the shading network for the dancer's standard surface displayed in the Hypershade. And I've already got a file node connected to the base weight. I'll make a duplicate of that file node to preserve the connections to this place2dTexture node. Select the file node. And in the Hypershade menus choose Edit, Duplicate, With Connections to Network. And now we get another file node. We can navigate with Alt + Middle Mouse. Grab that file node. And also go into its attributes. Select it, and open the Attribute Editor with Control + A.
