Rendering a Bifrost volume in Arnold
- [Instructor] Now we're going to render a volume in Arnold, but first we need to talk some more about file caches. I've saved this exercise file with the file cache node set to pass through mode so that the scene will open correctly for you, but if you want to reliably render a simulation sequence, a disk cache needs to exist first. I cannot include the cache files with the exercise files because it's too much data to distribute over the internet and so you'll need to generate the cache like I have here. We saw how to do that in the previous movie. In the file cache node parameters, we see that there's an absolute path to a Bifrost object sequence, but in this case, this is the path to the folder on my hard drive. With the current version of Bifrost, there is no way to automatically make cached simulations portable. This is actually a headache for us right now.
