- [Narrator] When we add lights to a scene in 3D, we also need to pay attention to the shadows that those lights create. Now one of the nice things about 3D is that you have a lot of control over the shadows. You can actually turn shadows off for a light, so you can have a light that just illuminates and doesn't cast shadows, which is something you can't do in the real world. We can also change the quality and the look of shadows, as well. So here I have a light that's casting a shadow here, and if we want, we could turn off that shadow. So that's a really nice benefit. But if I turn on the shadow, there's a number of things we can do to change the way those shadows look. Probably the first thing is to change the color of the shadow, so I can, for example, make it a little bit more gray. So if I don't want a black shadow, I can make it a lighter gray.
