Modeling with patches
- [Instructor] When we create complex objects using patches, we may have to use multiple patches to get the surface we want. Here's a simple piece of jewelry. Now, it may look like one object, but because it is built out of patches, we have to use multiple patches to create that object. Now, each patch is basically just a flat rectangular sheet, so there are many times when we'll have to use multiple patches to create an object. So, let's take a look at a basic patch here. A basic patch is, essentially, just a rectangle. Now, if I want, I can grab parts of that patch and manipulate it to create all sorts of different shapes, but the topology of a rectangle is still always there. Now, if we want to create more complex shapes, we can fold that rectangle. So, here's a simple patch, and if we want, we can bend it to make an arch, or if we want, we can bend it all the way around to create something like a cylinder. Now, if we…
