Background processing

- [Instructor] Consolidate and transcode can both be run as background processes in Media Composer, and you see at the bottom left corner of the dialog box, we can choose between application or background process options. You'll notice other options in Media Composer can be set as background processes as well. So what does this mean? Well, the name of the option is pretty accurate. If you choose the background process option, Media Composer will work on the task that you've given it in the background, allowing you to continue editing. In the case of rendering effects, this means that you can continue to work on other parts of a sequence while the effect is rendered and then you can check back later and take a look at the results. In the case of consolidate or transcode, the new master clips will be created, but they'll be offline right away, and as the new media files are created to link to those master clips,…
