Command palette: Button to Button mode

- [Instructor] One of the other ways to use the Command palette is to change the buttons that you have displayed in Media Composer. Let's try that now. I'm going to go to the Tools menu and choose Command Palette. And I'm going to switch the Command Palette to Button to Button Reassignment. In this mode, I can drag any of the buttons displayed in the Command Palette onto a space in the interface. Right now, I've got some blank buttons available at the top of the Timeline window. So just to illustrate this point, I'll go to the Play section of the Command Palette, and I'll take another Play button and drop it down into the Timeline window. Now, if I close the Command Palette, I can click that Play button, and it works like just any other Play button in the interface. To remove a button, go back into the Tools menu, and into Command Palette, go to other, and drag a blank over that spot. And I'll just close the Command Palette. There's actually an easy way to give yourself many additional blank buttons in the Media Composer Interface. I'm going to go back into the Tools menu and into Command Palette. And I'm going to switch to Active Palette Mode. And then I'm going to click this Tool Palette button, which of course you could assign to another part of the interface. In I click this button, a new window appears, which I can resize as much as I like and all of these are blank buttons that you could use to assign any buttons that you want. I'll just close the Command Palette for a moment and go to file and settings. And you could see on the list here in the user category, we have a Tool Palette setting. If I double click this, it just opens up the tool pad again. So, why's it there? Well the answer of course is that you could duplicate any setting you like in the Media Composer interface. So you have multiple versions of the Tool Palette with different sets of buttons depending on the kind of work that you're doing. So that's the Button to Button Reassignment mode for the tool palette.
