- [Maxim] One of the ways Avid can protect you from crashes or system lockups and hardware failures is with the auto save and the auto save in Avid as you might imagine is nuanced. I'm going to go into my bin settings here and notice this bin setting is a user preference. You can take this from machine to machine and at the top of the bin settings, we've got our auto save options. First of all, how often will it need to compose an auto save. Of course, you can manually save as well with Control + S on Windows or Command + S on Mac OS and if you recall, if an individual bin is selected, you'll just save that bin or if the project window is selected, you'll save all bins, but then we have an inactivity period here as well, so the auto save at the moment is set for every 15 minutes, but Media Composer won't break your flow to perform the auto save until, in this case, you've been inactive for 15 seconds.
