- [Instructor] Media Composer allows you to add clips to sequences by dragging them straight into the Timeline window, but there's a little bit of a gotcha. If you've got the Extract Splice In tool enabled, you will always perform a splice-in edit when you drag and drop. The only way to stop that happening is to turn off the Extract Splice In Segment Mode. Now I'll show you what I mean. I'm going to begin by right-clicking in the Program Monitor and choosing Clear Monitor. That's going to clear the Monitor and the Timeline window, and then with my Timeline window active, I'm going to pull a clip in. Let's take this Matt Climbing shot and drag this in into the window. When you release the mouse, Media Composer's going to ask you where you want to put the new sequence that you're going to create. Now if you have a bin active when you do this, you'll probably find the sequence appears in that bin, but because I have the Timeline window active, Media Composer's going to ask me where to…
