Importing with the Source Browser

- [Instructor] Let's also now take a look at importing, using the Source Browser. For this, I'm going to double-click on the icon for the Scene 6 Bin, and, I'm going to right-click and choose Input, and Source Browser again. The process is pretty similar to linking, I'll select this 006 folder, I've already got 6_38_2 imported, so I'm going to choose 6_39_2, and this time, I'm pretty happy with the rest of the settings, but I'm going to switch to the Import Mode. I'm also going to turn on this Close Source Browser after Link or Import option. This is just a shortcut to closing the window when you're finished with it. I'm going to settle on the DNxHD 185 resolution. I'm happy for everything to go onto the media drive. And I'm happy to use the Scene 6 Bin as the Target Bin, as it's described here. It's worth noting that you also have the option to create a bin automatically, based on the name of the folder, or to manually create a new bin from right inside the Source Browser. Still, I'm happy with these settings, so I'm going to choose Import. And, there it is. We've got our 6_39_2 clip imported. I'll just double-click, I can scrub through this clip, and we're ready to edit. In terms of your editing experience, linking and importing is pretty much the same thing. You're going to end up with clips that you can work with, and edit into sequences. There are differences that are meaningful later on though, when you've imported your media, because it's fully part of the Avid Media Database, you'll find it easier to navigate and locate media later on.
