Installing AMA plugins
- [Narrator] Broadly speaking, there are two types of media files that Media Composer works with. There's what you might call camera native, which are in the format M codec and file type that was created by the camera originally and then you've got what you might call Avid native, which is a media type that Avid created. Whether it's by importing and therefore transcoding and converting the media or by rendering effects, which is something we'll explore later, and producing mixdowns or any time that Media Composer creates media. For Media Composer to access the files that are created natively by a camera, it uses a technology called Avid Media Access or AMA. And you may find that you need to install additional AMA plugins, that's additional pieces of software for Media Composer to be able to access certain types of media.
