Overview of import options

- [Instructor] There are three ways that you'll bring media into your project in Media Composer. The first is to link. When you link to existing media files, no changes are made to those media files and they stay in their original location. This is really fast and a quick and easy way to work with lots of media formats, but it does mean that you're responsible for managing your media. For example, if you connected an external drive and linked to the media on that drive from inside of your Media Composer project, and then later disconnected that drive, all of the media would disappear as far as Media Composer is concerned. When you import media in any method into Media Composer, a clip is created for each media file. That's an item that you can work with inside your project. Those clips don't go away if your media disappears, but they enter a state described as offline, and that simply means that you've got the clip, but…
