Patching tracks

- [Instructor] Very soon we'll be building a sequence from scratch. But one of the important steps in that process is track patching. Now that I've got several video and audio tracks, you'll notice that the source video and audio track are a little outnumbered. If I were to edit this clip that's currently open in the source monitor into the current sequence, I'd have to make a decision about which tracks are going to be used. The process for achieving this is called track patching. I'm going to just navigate over to the right a little here, and I'm going to move my play head right to the end of the sequence. I don't have in or out points on the sequence, so just as the source monitor uses the play head as an endpoint, if no other endpoint exists, so the timeline will use the play head as an endpoint as well. Again, we'll get into using these buttons properly in a moment. But just for now, see what happens…
