The Radio Edit technique

- [Instructor] The radio edit technique is an approach to editing rather than a specific workflow. It's a way to approach the timing of your edit where you're less distracted by the visuals and really focusing on the audio and the clue's in the name that it's called a radio edit. The workflow is really straightforward. You just turn off monitoring your video all together and focus exclusively on the audio in your edit, play back, review, adjust the timing and then switch the visuals on and check if they fit. Audiences are much more sensitive to issues with the soundtrack than they usually are to issues in the visuals. So you really need to make sure that the pace and rhythm of your dialogue is set correctly in the soundtrack first. And there's a nice technique you can use to make it easier to navigate your radio edit and to use this, I'm going to introduce a new couple of buttons in our Command Palette. I'm going to…
