- [Instructor] I remember when I first learned how to cut with Avid Media Composer, well over 10 years ago. In the original books on how to use the application, it said that 90 percent of video editing was watching video clips and making creative choices about them. I think that's entirely true. And one of the key creative choices your going to make, is to choose which part of the clip you want to use. I'd like to take a moment to look at the different ways you can do this in Media Composer, and we can look at different ways of using the selection process to help you organize the project. So, first of all, I mentioned earlier that if you don't have any marks, an "in" or an "out" mark, these are the marks that define each selected region of a clip, on a clip, Media Composer will use the blue playhead instead to pick out everything from the playhead to the end of the clip to include in your sequence.
