- [Instructor] Now that we have our Chroma Key sequence set up and our SpectraMatte effect applied, let's take a look at the settings. I've moved here into a new sequence SpectraMatte so you can compare and try this out yourself. Let me pull this up just a little and resize. The goal of the SpectraMatte or, in fact, any Chroma Key effect is to identify pixels that should be transparent, but are not. In this case, I've got a clip with a nice solid green background, and obviously, those green pixels should be see-through. What the SpectraMatte key effect is going to do, is translate those green pixels into an adjustment on the alpha channel. The alpha channel is that fourth channel of picture information that defines how opaque or transparent pixels are. So the first step is to tell the SpectraMatte effect, which color to convert into an alpha adjustment. So if I want to, I can double-click to bring up a preset color on this color swatch.
