Smart Tool settings
- [Educator] As we are about to get into using the segment tool to perform some edits in Media Composer, let's take a moment to look at a couple of relevant settings. I've got the timeline window active, so I'm going to use my keyboard shortcut "Ctrl" here on Windows. This would be "Cmd" on macOS and the equals key to bring up the timeline settings. In the timeline settings window, I'm going to switch over to the edit tab and there's a couple of things here that change the way the segment tools work. The first, is this one. Select Filler with Segment Tools. Earlier, we explored filler on the timeline in Media Composer, which is the blank areas behind or around the clips. Media Composer treats filler as a thing that you can trim, move, edit, and apply effects to and so on.
