Understanding the project's format setting

- [Instructor] Let's take a quick look at the format options when creating a new project in Media Composer. I'm in the Select Project window and I'm going to click on New Project and click into the Format menu. This menu gives you access to quite a lot of information with a series of sub menus to choose the format for your project. And there's really just one critical option here, that you need to be clear about when creating your project. And that's whether you're creating a PAL or an NTSC video project. You can change the image resolution later in the format settings but you cannot switch between NTSC and PAL. It's pretty clear, which is which on this list because you'll see these partial frame rates. So, for example, 29.97 frames per second is a drop frame time code system that's only used by NTSC. 30 frames per second also is an NTSC only frame rate.
