The Video Quality menu
- [Instructor] Until now, we have been playing back our video material, playing back our effects and our titles, using a particular playback quality. We've been operating in what's called draft quality. And draft quality uses a quarter of the image information, 50% horizontally and 50% vertically. And it gives us a reasonable balance between picture quality and playback performance. As you combine multiple effects and multiple layers of video, you'll find that eventually there'll come a point where your system won't be able to play back everything without dropping some frames. You'll miss out some of the visual information. That might not matter to you all that much, and in fact, some years ago, all of the nonlinear editing system developers created what they called "graceful degradation." And that means that though not all of the frames may play back, the speed of the playback will be consistent. 10 seconds will take…
