What's new in 8.7?

- [Instructor] Media Composer 8.7 includes a number of interesting updates. Dupe detection now applies to audio and data tracks. It's not just visuals that you can check if you've repeated on the timeline. When you perform a match frame, you can now match frame to titles and matte keys, this kind of generated media that's part way between an effect and content. Working in the FrameFlex effect, that you can use to reinterpret your source media, you can now add some rotation presets. There's a new keyboard short to access clip info. You can press Ctrl, or Cmd, + Alt + I to get clip information displayed in the console window. You can then copy this text out, and use it to share information about the clip. Now, there isn't any media to accompany this little video of some of these new features in Media Composer. I just wanted to show you the new menus. First of all, if we look in our project window, in our settings right down here under Grid, we now have the option to specify RP-2046, and EBU R95 safe action and safe title areas. You can also specify a custom area. That's useful if you're producing content for broadcast TV. In the audio mixer, in the fast menu, you'll notice we have a couple of options here to remove and commit default clip pan settings. This means any effects that you've applied that actually set the pan on the track to the default value, which should be centered for mid, or left, or right, if that's how you've configured your settings. You can remove those pan effects because all they're doing is cluttering up the interface. They're not necessary because the adjustment is already at the default. Lastly, if we go to our settings again, and look at our Bin options, we now have the option to set a default Bin view. This is a great new feature. If you've created a custom view, you can specify that view in here, and new Bins will display that view by default. None of these new features change the information presented in the lessons in this course, though you may notice one or two additional options in some menus.
