- This exercise will discuss how to use the various locks available in MicroStation. Continue using the file for chapter two, basic DGN concepts. There are several lock tools available for controlling how your drawing points are processed. These locks can be accessed by selecting the active locks icon found on the status bar at the bottom of the application window. The lock settings are global to all models in the design file and are saved using the save settings command. The ACS plain lock is available in 3-D only. It locks data points and tentative points to the active axillary coordinate system, z-depth. The grid lock locks data points to the defined grid points and restricts all data points to only points on the grid. The level lock locks you to a specific level, restricting access to all other levels. This is the opposite behavior from the AutoCAD layer lock which restricts access to a specific level.
