- [Instructor] Now, let's take a look at Select By Attributes. Continue using the file for chapter eight, Using Selection Tools. Using View Group, select the PRACTICE Selections model. When selecting elements in a real-world drawing, many times, I need to select elements based on what they are, using their level, element type and other attributes rather than on where they are. Using the Selection tool, I will expand the Tool Settings dialogue using the little black arrow. Here you'll notice that there are several tabs that allow you to select by level, color, line style or line weight. There's also a tab that allows you to select by element type. Now, in true MicroStation form, some of the settings that are available are not turned on by default. If you right-click on any one of those tabs, you can see that there are many tabs that are not turned on. I recommend using the Show All option so that all tabs are available.
