- [Instructor] In this exercise we will take a look at how to use the various shape commands. Continue using the file for Chapter 5, Placing Basic Geometry. And using View Group, select the shape elements model. Here you can see the different types of shapes available in MicroStation. The Shapes section of the Tasks navigation dialogue, located in the Drawing panel, provides several different shape commands. The first command we will look at is the Place Block or Rectangle command. This allows you to place an orthogonal block, and if you look at the tool settings dialogue, you can place the block using methods Orthogonal or Rotated. The Fill Type allows you to fill the shape with a solid opaque fill color, similar to the AutoCad fill hatch, where you can use the fill color to select fill color independently of the active color setting.
