Understanding the status bar

- Now let's take a look at the status bar located at the bottom of the MicroStation application window. The status bar is the gray bar all the way across the bottom. It contains the prompt field, the message center, the snaps, locks and several other fields which we will review later. The prompt field tells you what you need to do next and it gives you continuous feedback about the command you are currently running. When I am in the Place Line command, it asks me to identify the start of the line. The term identify is the same thing as saying issue a left click on the mouse. If I left click on the mouse, it now asks me to identify the end of the line. So, again, I issue a left click using the mouse. MicroStation will keep prompting you to identify points in the line element until you use the right the mouse button to stop the current line element. MicroStation commands are persistent commands.
