Using Dimensions

- Now on to the dimension commands. The most commonly used dimension command is the Dimension Element command. Using the Dimensions section of the drawing panel I will select Dimension Element. If you look at the tool settings dialog, you'll see options for Dimension Element and Label Line. First let's use Dimension Element. This command is a generic dimensioning command that can be applied to any element type. The dimension type will be automatically adjusted based on whether you select a linear element or a radial element. This command can dimension single elements only, but cannot dimension between elements. By default, if I select the edge of the parking lot I will get a linear dimension to label that line. The alignment is set to View, which aligns the dimension to the view. So I get a horizontal or a vertical dimension. Let me undo that. I want the true length of the parking lot. So I need to change the alignment to True and redimension the edge of the parking lot. The…
