Using Position Mapping

- Now let's talk about the position mapping shortcut keys that are available in MicroStation. You've probably already noticed those blue letters and numbers that appear on top of the icons or buttons. These position mapping shortcut keys allow you to select commands without actually having to use the button. I am a very keyboard oriented user. I use Windows shortcut keys whenever possible. That doesn't mean it is better, it just means that is how I do it. The question I ask a user to determine their interface preference is this. If I asked you to select the Print command in any Windows application would you use the button or would you use the pull-down menu? Would you key in a shortcut key, or would you issue a shortcut key to access the Print command? I use Ctrl+P, the Windows shortcut. You can't get more keyboard oriented than that, right?
