- [Narrator] In this exercise we'll take a look at how to use the position mapping shortcuts to access commonly used commands quickly and efficiently. Continue using the file for Chapter 1 Surviving the Interface dot dgn Now, let's talk about the position mapping shortcut keys that are available on MicroStation. You've probably already noticed those blue letters and numbers that appear on the top of the icons or buttons. This position mapping shortcut keys allow you to select commands without actually having to use the buttons. I'm a very keyboard oriented user and as an autoCAD user, you probably are too. I use the windows shortcut keys whenever possible. That doesn't mean it's better, it just means that that's how I do it. The question I asked every user to determine their interface preferences is this: If I asked you to select the print command, in any windows application, would you use the button?
