Using cell libraries

- The objective of this chapter is to learn how to use cells in the MicroStation environment. A standard symbol in MicroStation is called a cell. Cells are stored in a Cell Library file. A Cell Library is just a DGN file with a different extension, .CEL. There are basically two types of cells in MicroStation. Graphic cells and point cells. A graphic cell is a symbol that is created with a level, color, line style, and line weight that is defined when it created, not when it is placed. A point cell is a cell where the level, color, line style, and line weight is defined when it's placed. First, let's take a look at how you can place cells that are already existing in a design file. Before I can place any cell, I have to attach a cell library that contains standard cells. To do this, I will go up to the Element pulldown menu and select Cells. This opens the Cell Library dialog.
