Using the exercise files

- If you are a Premium member of lynda.com, you have access to the exercise files used throughout this course. The exercise files are in a folder called Exercise files and for this demonstration have been placed in a folder on my desktop. You can place them wherever you prefer in your own system, however you will need to edit the Lynda.ucf file delivered with the exercise files. Let me show you what I am talking about. I will open up the folder with exercise files on my desktop and you'll see the UpRunningV8i-2D folder. I'll go into that folder and I'll locate the Lynda.ucf file. This file must be copied into your MicroStation installation folder in order for the course files to work properly. So I will right click and and copy this file to the clipboard. I've provided a shortcut to take you right where you need to put this file, unless you have installed MicroStation in a non-standard location. If you did install your MicroStation in a standard location, just double click on this folder and paste the Lynda.com here. Now you're ready to work with the delivered exercise files. When you open the Exercise Files folder, you'll find it organized into subfolders that are based on the MicroStation resources required for use in this course. You'll find a collection of files in the dgn folder that relates back to each video. Open the files when instructed to do so to follow along with the demonstration. If you're not a Premium member of lynda.com, you won't have access to the exercise files, but you can follow along with your own files using MicroStation. So, let's get started and learn how you can quickly gain the knowledge to be productive using MicroStation.
