What you should know

- [Lecturer] Before beginning these tutorials it is helpful, but not a necessity, that students should have a basic understanding a mechanical drawing. This includes the topics of orthographic projection, dimensioning techniques, line styles and other topics associated with the drawing and manufacture of mechanical parts. There are four projects that you'll be completing during this tutorial. These projects build upon one another using different commands and methods. PDF files of the completed versions are provided in the exercise files. This first project, the Plate project, is a one-view mechanical drawing that shows you just a basic setup of a 2D and a 3D version of the project. The Bracket project is a three-view orthographic projection drawing that has an isometric view also generated from the 3D model. The third project, the Angle Guide, will give you practice in drawing an orthographic drawing with an auxiliary view. The last project consists of three drawings, consisting of a Cam and Drive Wheel. This is an assembly drawing of a Geneva cam. You'll also be drawing the Base and Pin part and the Shaft and Key part. When you finish up the drawing, you'll be creating an isometric assembly with a description of the assembly sequence and a description of the Geneva Cam project with a parts list.
