- [Narrator] Now let's take a look at more of the default settings that were inherited from the seed file. Specifically the models available in the DGN file. Open the file for chapter two, Working with Models.dgn. The V8 DGN file format is constructed of one or more models that can contain graphic elements. You can create three types of models: a Design model, a Drawing model, or a Sheet model. A Design model is the working model where most graphical elements will be placed, and is available as 2D or 3D. A Drawing model is used for referencing the Design model in flat views, and is intended to be used for creating views of a 2D or 3D Design model. The Drawing model allows you to keep the Design model free from any scale-based or annotation elements. The intent is to place all annotation related elements in the Drawing model, to be referenced into a Sheet model. The Drawing model is only available as a 2D model.
