- [Instructor] Picture this astounding stat, nearly two in three people in the United States owns a smartphone. Globally, smartphone users number over two billion according to eMarketer. By 2020, they will near three billion. We have come a long way in the 10 years since the iPhone was introduced. The smartphone has become that one device to rule them all. We're consolidating an ever-growing percentage of our daily activities on and around it. Of course, when we think about smartphones our mind goes right to apps. That's because we may come for the device itself, you may choose a particular brand or platform because of preferences or loyalty, for example, but we stay for the apps. They're what make the device come to life. And over the past few years there's been a massive shift in terms of when consumers spend their media time.
