Workflow for creating a web or course site
- [Instructor] There are three steps to managing any web or course site, planning and preparation, execution, and testing. By far, the biggest step is the first one. In the last movie, you got a glimpse into the file preparation process that I use, but now let's look at the overall process in a bit more detail. When planning out a web or course site, begin with a site sketch on a piece of paper, a whiteboard, or a tablet. What are the major parts, sections, or pages for the site? For a typical course site, it may look something like this. You'll need a home page, a syllabus, a page for each unit or lesson, a page for readings or resources, and a page for contact information. Activities like discussions, homework, quizzes, and grades can all be offloaded to your campus learning management system. Next, sketch out what you want the pages to look like. A header with basic information about the page, the main article or content for the page, maybe a navigation panel that sits over here…
