Tuning voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs)

- In this movie, we're going to talk about tuning your modular synthesizer to other instruments and also to itself, because quite often you might want to use multiple oscillators in one voice just to create musical intervals and therefore a fatter sound. Now this isn't as straightforward as you might suspect. That's why we're dedicating a whole movie to it, because these can be temperamental beasts. First you should let your system warm up. Say a half hour just to make sure that the voltages and temperatures have stabilized before you get serious about using it. I'm going to start off with braids, which is a digital oscillator. In general, digital oscillators tend to be more accurate and better tempered than analogue oscillators, but that's not always the case. Since we'll eventually be combining multiple oscillators together, we need a way of mixing them together into our outputs.
