Network scanning with Nessus

- Nessus is a web application. Once you install Nessus, you can use it through your web browser. Make sure that you're tapping the right URL. Local host colon eight, eight, three, four. Ignore the not secure warning. Let's sign on to an Nessus by giving the username and the password. My username is root. Click on sign in. I already ran a couple of scans. The first scan was host discovery which finds all the devices connected to your network. It also shows open ports for each host. In addition to the host discovery scan type, there are many others you can run. To do a new scan, click on the plus sign here. There are three major scan types; discovery, vulnerabilities, and compliance. Let's run a new basic network scan. The name of this scan is test. The targets are the host to be scanned.
