- Whether it's in the form of rivers and streams flowing down from the highlands, or snow melt, or rain runoff, which is the case here, this was after a week of a lot of rain storms, there's always water running and flowing in Iceland, sometimes it seems like the country's a sponge and water's just flowing out of it. Of course with all that water flowing, it means you're going to have waterfalls, especially when it's flowing downhill. And the waterfalls in Iceland can range from very small, maybe even little temporary waterfalls such as this one coming down a mountainside to little delicate waterfalls coming down through canyons, to much larger and more powerful waterfalls. This is Skogafoss, which is one of the more famous waterfalls in Iceland, just along the Ring Road. Another waterfall in southern Iceland, and if you have the opportunity to visit in winter, waterfalls can be very fascinating in winter, just because of the buildup of the ice structures at the lip of the waterfall…
