Where to go

- There are many places to visit in Iceland and some are almost required stops for landscape photographers. Deciding what parts of the country you want to see will help you plan out an itinerary, so you can make the most of the time that you have there. Iceland is an island in the North Atlantic, between Greenland and Europe. It has a land area of 40,000 square miles, or 103,000 square kilometers. That's equivalant to approximately the size of the U.S. State of Iowa, or just a little bit larger than Ireland. The relatively small size of the Country may lead you to believe that you'll be able to cover distances pretty quickly. But several factors mean that you'll probably spend more time getting from point A to point B than you might think. First, once you get out of Reykjavik, most of the roads in the countryside are two lanes. Speed limits are slower than what you may be used to in the U.S., especially in some Western States.
