Winter landscapes

- Winter in Iceland brings shorter days, colder weather, snow and ice, and sometimes wind, rain, and sleet. But it also brings beautiful light, ice caves, the Aurora Borealis, a landscape transformed by the cold and snow and many possibilities for creative photography. Winter is colder and it's a lot more work to make images since you have to be concerned with the multiple layers of clothing to keep out the cold. But the subject material you have to work with can be quite wonderful. Even on days like this, when the wind was blowing hard and cold, and you had to be bundled up from head to toe to stay warm there were rewards for going out to look for images. I really love the way the wind is blowing the snow off the tops of these mountains. And it's not all grand lanscapes in the winter. Visiting the Icelandic horses is always a great way to spend some time making images and they show up with their best shaggy, winter coats.
