058 Field mask
- [Steve] Hi, this is Steve Wright welcoming you to this week's Nuke Nugget, how to make a video field mask. In Nugget 17, how to work with interlaced video, I used a field mask to isolate one of the fields of interlaced video then used it to demonstrate several de-interlacing techniques. Here, we'll see how to make a field mask and look at an interesting new cheap de-interlacing technique. So, starting here with our video, we'll push in. And we can see that it is horribly interlaced. Ooh. Look at that. Okay, so, here's the starting point. We'll start with a checkerboard, okay? And the key is... I'm pushing on that. We want a one by one pixel array. So we got that by setting the checkerboard size to one pixel. We also need to get rid of that yellow center line and we do that by setting the center line width to zero. Okay, so that gets us this.
