- [Steve] Hi, this is Steve Wright welcoming you to this week's Nuke Nugget. Here we'll look at four obscure transform nodes, what they're used for, and what makes them unique. We start with the mirror node. Now, you probably know the mirror node. It will flip you vertically, and it will flop you horizontally. But the key is that the mirror node is not filtering the pixels, it just picks them up and remaps them to a new location and drops them down unfiltered. Now here's a transform node. We can actually duplicate the mirror effect if we'll take the scale operation and unfold it, and I give it a width scale of minus one, precisely minus one, then the mirror and the transform will look identical, we'll scooch in here, toggle, toggle, toggle, toggle, and there's no filtering as long as that scale is exactly minus one.
