- [Instructor] There are three new filters in Nuke 8 that are added to all the filter menus in the various transformation nodes. When images are down-scaled, the filtering can soften them. So these new filters are designed specifically for down-scaling images without excessive softening. So I'll open up transform one, which has the default filter, Cubic. And we'll select that in the viewer. And let's push in to see what we got. I'm going to set the viewer gamma and gain for a higher contrast so we can really see the effects of the edge sharpening. Now, your choice of filter has a big effect on the results. For example, if I go from Cubic to Parzen you can see a big softening change. Now, all of these transform modes are set to scale by 0.5. So this is a 2K image scaled down by half. Now let's take a look at our three new filters and how they affect the picture. We'll start with the Lanczos4.
