The Blur node

The Blur node

The blur node is one of the most basic filtering operations. It's frequently used to soften mats and keys in addition to regular images. You can even blur an image differently horizontally or vertically. So let's add a node. I'll select the Weed node, come up to the Filter tab, and there's my Blur node. Now the letter B here tells me there's a keyboard shortcut. So we'll come back down to the node graph, and type the letter B to get my blur node. The blur node is used so often, it has its own separate keyboard shortcut. The first parameter of course is the size parameter and that's the amount of blur, and of course this can be animated. Over on the right this number two tells us there's actually two parameters folded up together, that would be the width and the height of the blur. So we'll unfold that by clicking on the number two, there is my width and height values. So for example I could set the height to 0 and the width to 30. And now I have a horizontal blur only.
