DepthToPoints: Creating a point cloud from a depth channel

- [Instructor] In Nuke7, the Foundry introduced an awesome new node, DepthToPoints. It takes a solved camera and the depth channel of a clip to create a texture map point cloud that can be used to line up geometry to the clip in 3D. This technique was famously used in the making of the movie, District 9. Here's how you set up the DepthToPoint node. First we need a clip that has a CGI render, so we get a read node, go to the hulk folder and bring in the hulk. Now all these images and camera files are included in the tutorial assets. We'll open that, look up our viewer. So we have a moving piece of geometry with a moving camera. Now the CD render of course has an alpha channel, but it also has a depth Z channel. Here you can see it better if I set it up for you like this. Okay, so it's going to take the depth Z data that you see here, create a point cloud relative to the camera, and then texture map the images onto it. Tre cool. Very import point, make sure that your depth Z channels…
