Displacement node: Adjusting tessellation
- Tesselation is the process of subdividing the geometry into smaller triangles for rendering. The tesselation tab allow you to set the parameters for the sub division. Tessellation is a triangular subdivision process so let's take a look at the 3D view. Now if we look through the camera view you'll see there's no displacement at all. Let me back out a little bit and you can see that our camera view only covers this part of the geometry. There's no displacement of the geometry because this displacement shader is a rendered event not a geometry event. Let's go back to our 2D view so we can see the actual displacement of the final rendered image. Now let's talk a minute about what is tesselation. I've made this little demo for you. Tesselation is the process of subdividing the polygons into triangles. 'Member our card has only a four by four arrange of these polygons here.
