MatchGrade node: Matching two clips

- The secret to matching the grade between two different clips is to present the Match Grade node with the same proportion of colored pixels in the source and target images. In order to do that you will normally have to mask off the matching regions of the two clips. So, I have two completely different clips here. I've got this one with the boy, in a close up, and the same content, but in in a long shot way out here. So, the concept is I need to mask off an area of this clip, which is going to be my target. This is what I want it to look like. And it has to roughly match the pixel balance between that and my source. So, here's what I did. I'll show you my matte overlay. And by the way this clip only has 25 frames so I'm going to set my viewer to 25. I'll jump to frame one. And you can see I've animated a mask that masks off an area that very closely matches this shot here. Now, this one also has a mask. So, why did I have to mask this off?
