- [Instructor] Texture maps are positioned onto geometry using a uv coordinate system that maps each part of the texture map to a particular vertex. Default uv coordinates are assigned to the vertices when the geometry is created and projecting texture maps actually edits those original uv coordinates. So here's a texture map. And the uv coordinate structure puts zero-zero down in the lower left hand corner. In other words, a vertex that has a uv coordinate of zero-zero will be getting this pixel right there. This would be one comma zero. One comma one. Zero comma one. The pixels right here in the center would be 0.5 in u and 0.5 in v. Now those numbers aren't tied to the map itself. They're tied to the geometry like this. So I'll cut this here. Turn that on. Push in. I'm going to set the display to a wire frame 'cause we're going to be looking at the vertices of this guy here. I'm also going to turn off the grid. Let's push into this corner here so we can see our vertices really…
