Overview of form controls

- Content controls are used to capture information from the form's user, the person who's filling it out. And the content controls are on the Developer tab. There are actually several groups of content controls. First, if you look in the Controls section, you'll see some controls shown here and those are the controls that we'll be using. Let me speak about them in a moment. However, there are also two other sets of controls available to you in Word. The first are controls for Legacy Forms. If you have users who would still be using Word 2003, for example, the versions of Word that have a .doc extension rather than a .docx. If you're required to create documents for some of your users that are still in compatibility mode, then they won't be able to use all of the newer form controls and you may need to create Legacy Forms for them.
