Understanding building blocks
- There are some amazing things that you can do when you combine the built-in power of building blocks from Microsoft Word with the controls that you find on the Developer Tab. In case you're not familiar with building blocks, I want to give you just a little background. A building block is a chunk of formatted content. It can be as little as two words, as big as pages and pages, it can be a table, it can have graphics, anything you want. And it's something that you're going to place somewhere in your document. You will find most of the built-in building blocks on the Insert Tab. For example, all of these cover pages are building blocks. These are the built-in building blocks, but I built one of my own: my very own cover page and added it to the gallery. Headers, they're all building blocks. There's some of mine, here are the ones that are built in. Guess what? Footers? Yep. Page numbers? All of these, all building blocks. And sometimes I have some content that I want to be able to…
